It’s great for your members because they only have to qualify once!
Not only that, they qualify at their home course with their trusted home professional looking after the handicaps and equity of the event. The payoff is their opportunity to register and compete for a National Championship in Las Vegas. As their PGA professional, you can join their team at the nationals (National Championship played in Pro-AM fivesomes).
It’s great for you because there are no tedious forms to fill out—your players have already inputted their information into our database once they registered. We have already created the format sheets for you, you just need edit them according to your club’s specific information and print them.
The only paperwork we need from you is to fax the handicap records of all teams who qualified for the National Championship to (407) 877-1530.
You start it all by registering your club to hold a qualifying event between April 1st and August 31st, 2008. Your registration is quick, easy and paperless. Upon registration, you will receive a tournament code for your local qualifier.
Your amateurs must then register and pay on this secure website using the code you generated.
Don’t delay registration! Don’t delay running your qualifier! Once the National Championship has reached 200 qualifying teams the event is at capacity and no further teams will be allowed into the Championship.
There are two types of local qualifying tournaments, it is up to the local PGA professional to choose one of the two types of qualifying events:
- “Invitational” local qualifying – Each foursome must have at least one member of the host club on each team that participates. The other three players may be invited from other clubs. All players are subject to the same handicap guidelines. Each participant not a member of the host club MUST provide the local PGA professional with a copy of his handicap record in effect 10 days prior to the local championship date.
- “Open” local qualifying – Each foursome may have any player on their team subject to the handicap guidelines and team formation guidelines. Every person competing MUST provide the local PGA professional with copies of their handicap record in effect 10 days prior to the local championship date
We will send you a commission based on the size of your qualifying event. You will need to provide each qualifying team with a PGA professional or PGA apprentice. Details provided below:
Each host professional will ultimately decide how many teams will advance to the national finals from their club or course. The following chart shows only the maximum allowable teams per local club event based on the number of local entries.
Clubs holding an event must have a minimum of 8 registered teams to advance a team to the finals.
8-11 teams in local • 1 team to the National Finals • Pro must decide net or gross
12-17 teams in local • 2 teams to the National Finals • 1 Net and 1 Gross team
18-23 teams in local • 3 teams to the National Finals • 1 Net and 2 Gross or... 2 Net and 1 Gross team. Local Pro makes decision
24+ teams in local • 4 teams to the National Finals • 2 Net and 2 Gross teams
No matter how big or small the field for your event, please also have one “alternate” qualifying spot. In the event the National Championship has space, we will fill the field using alternates. Alternate spaces will be prioritized according to the date the PGA professional registers his club into the web site, NOT when his event is played. The earlier you register, the greater the probability we would use an alternate team from your club if needed.
Commissions paid directly to Host Professional according to the following schedule:
8-11 teams registered in local event: $ 250.00
12-17 teams registered in local event: $ 400.00
18-23 teams registered in local event: $ 500.00
24+ teams registered in local event: $ 599.00
With 100 teams, the National Championship will be a Net & Gross Event simultaneously with the low 10 gross and 10 net teams being paid. We will also have “day money” pari-mutuel and an optional “2nd day” buy-in for those teams in the bottom half of the field and a skins game option for both days. The purse for an event with 100 teams in the National Championship will be $100,000.
With 200 teams, the National Championship will be a Net Only Championship at one golf facility and a Gross only Championship at another golf facility with each team competing in the division in which they qualified. We will pay the low 20 scores in each division. We will also have “day money” payouts and an optional “2nd day” buy in for those teams in the bottom third of the field and a skins game option for each day. The purse for an event with 200 teams in the National Championship will be $200,000.
The awards party will combine both the Gross and Net Division to crown the National Champions.
When you login to your account for the National Championship, a full list of the teams from your qualifier will appear. You just click on the teams who made it and which team is the alternate.
